So I have done two days in a row of no breakfast, glass of water and a workout. Then followed by intense sweating and a shower. I actually feel surprisingly good and waiting to eat that first bite works for me since I'm not really into early morning breakfast anyways. It seems the working out and the mornings are not my weak point. It's the late night movie time or monopoly games that make me a munchaholic. So today I went and bought a ton of veggies and some dip (25 calories in a serving and no fat) and I plan to keep it fresh and stocked in the fridge for the evening munchies. I hope this will help me avoid spreading whipping cream on a cookie and scarfing it down like it was my last treat ever (did that yesterday...shame).

One other thing I think I might try is planning out what I'm going to eat for the day the night before or in the morning. I think if I have a plan then I might stick to it. The impulsive grab-a-cookie might be swayed if my schedule says I'm to eat an apple at 3pm with some nuts. We'll see how that works out. So far today I'm right on schedule.

Weight today: 172.1 (almost)
Workout: 30 minutes cardio in my fat-burning zone (70% of 220-your age)
Caloric intake: it's only 2:30 but 500
Feeling: better than yesterday!

  1. Better than yesterday is good!

I am the most successful with walking/jogging in the mornings if I got before eating. I think it's mostly because I LOVE breakfast and if I can twist myself into thinking that breakfast is the reward for exercising, I will succeed. It's so interesting all the little things we have to do to motivate ourselves. For me, if I scheduled all of my snacks out, I would FAIL. I have even tried measuring out a few different kinds of snacks, but I just eat more or grab something else because something in me has to break the rules. That's just me. One thing holds true: we would ALL rather be on the couch with some ice cream, cookies, chips, etc. and we could ALL be healthier.

I hope your veggie plan works out! Stocking your kitchen with healthy snacks is definitely the way to go.... but I think you have to get rid of the junky stuff, which is so hard to do. And I don't know about you, but even if I get rid of the junk I will just BAKE more if I get a craving.

Well, in my book you are certainly fulfilling your mission to inspire others, because I feel more on track knowing you are going for it, too. I'm trying harder and trying new techniques. As always, thanks for sharing, and YOU CAN DO THIS!

  2. Ha ha ha. Kristen you are such a rebel, breaking all the rules. I think it's hilarious that as soon as you set portion sizes or snack plans then you will have to break them.

But I agree about getting rid of all the junk food in the house to eliminate the possibility of chowing down an entire bag of chips. But unfortunatly I'm only half the equation. Greg often gets a bag of candy or chips and leaves them out in plain sight....enabler.
