This is all I've had to eat so far today and according to
this source, I have consumed about 68% of my daily caloric intake. WHAT?! I'M HUNGRY. This is going to be a lot harder than I originally thought. Losing weight is a science, you need to constantly be calculating and estimating and measuring. My kitchen has turned into a science lab and I'm the mad, hungry scientist. Today a friend called me up to see if I wanted to go running twice a week in the morning with her. I said sure, but the evening actually works better for me. But she insists on mornings because according to the book "Fit for Life" the best way to lose weight is to wake up, drink water and go work out. That way your body is burning from your fat reserves and not from your breakfast. That makes some sense, but I also know you need to eat in the morning to get your body working. ARGG.... so many conflicting opinions.
Weight today: 172
Workout: nada
Calories consumed by end of day: 1600 (waffles for dinner)
Feeling: uh-oh
Probably the most frustrating thing about weight loss stuff for me is all the conflicting information and feeling like I can't trust any one source. You find one thing that looks good, and then something else conflicts with it or says that way is wrong. Grrrr!
ReplyDeleteThe calorie-counting method seems logical to me, though. Not fun, but logical.
Something I do when I get hungry and need to keep from snacking is putting a spaghetti noodle in my mouth. Sounds really weird, but because it takes so long to get it soft enough to chew, I feel like I'm eating, but all I'm eating is a couple of noodles. I also have gotten Mike to do this while watching movies so he won't bite his nails.
How many calories in a noodle?
Spaghetti Noodle: 2oz = 210 calories.
ReplyDeleteWhole Wheat Noodle: 2 oz = 160 calories.
That's a great idea Kristen. If I'm prepared for my evening snacking cravings then I can usually prep some veggies or fruit but if I'm not prepared I seem to eat an entire bag of chips or 6 cookies or something stupid like that.
I also hate getting varied information. I guess all we can really do is take it with a grain of salt (1 pinch = 0 calories) and mix it with some common sense.
LOL! There you go: Salt! Snack on that.
ReplyDeleteI have the "LoseIt!" app for iPhone, and hadn't bothered to use the food part of it because it seemed too complicated. I just track my weight (and watch it flat-line). I looked up spaghetti, and 1/8 cup is 28 calories. I will have to see how many noodles fit into 1/8 cup sometime, just so I know. It's still better than eating cookies! In fact, I keep a bag or a jar of dry noodles in a couple of different places in the house. It's easier to reach for those than to walk all the way to the kitchen for ice cream or a bag of chips.
