Pluggin' away, pluggin' away.
I took Sunday off of exercising because of the big family dinner we had here (which was a success), and then went back at it yesterday with an aqua vengeance. My friend and I decided to hit up the Senior's Centre for some pool workout and it was actually really awesome. It turns out the facility actually caters to all ages and in the evenings there are classes for any adults and even some kid's swimming lessons. So it turned out to be pretty run and really good on my shins. I didn't feel like I was working too hard at the time but today I can feel my arms and I think we'll be going again.
So tonight will probably be another Elliptical night since I'm at home getting ready for more company. But I really plan to keep working out even when all my family gets here. I decided that this is really important to me and I'm feeling so good that I don't want to stop now, even for a week.
Weight Today: 169
Calories: I'm thinking of stopping this part. I don't like counting every little thing...I'm generally just becoming more aware and conscious of what I put in my mouth...but this is getting annoying.
Workout: will do 45 minutes tonight.
Feeling: encouraged by all the additional things in my life that are turning around as a result of my commitment to be healthy and fit.
You look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry about counting every calorie either. I think you have the right mind set and your putting in the work. That kind of stuff can sabatoge the self esteem I think.
Glad to here the shins are doing better too!
Lookin' good, Audrey! I want to encourage you to keep up your workouts even with family around- it's a great idea, but hard to do. But you can do it! Hopefully your family will encourage you, too, and give you what you need to help you... be that privacy, playing with Liam, etc. I'm sure you will get the help you need!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about counting calories. It gets SO tedious, and I think after you've done it for a while you have a better idea about what foods are better than others, portion size, etc., and you don't have to do it all the time. I never used to think about calories, but after counting for like a week I had a better idea already of how much I could eat and was making better choices, i.e. not blowing my calorie budget on things like mindlessly dumping another handful of cheese on my nachos.
And oooh, aqua exercising! That really sounds like a lot of fun and a good way to mix it up. Rest those weary shins!
Thanks guys!
ReplyDeleteI still find myself glancing at the calories on various foods but not necessarly adding them up. It's actually liberating to not count every granual of sugar or salt that should enter your mouth.
And thanks Kristen for the encouragement. I really needed that extra push. I could feel myself getting fatter as my family approaches...jokes. But really, I plan to start tonight (night 1 or company) with a 30 minute go on the Elliptical as a kind of a "this is my new routine get used to it" approach. Then maybe later in the week I'll use them as free babysitters while I get to the gym or the pool.
How's your routine going Kristen? Still walking?
I am still walking and doing crunches and those side leg lift things. I am really not willing to do too much. It's bad, but I like to aim low with goals I can keep up consistently. The benefit of this is that it takes so long to get results, I almost forget that after a while, there WILL BE results. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI also blogged about this (http://kristenzed.xanga.com/), but when I was sick with the flu I dropped a few pounds and experienced a burst of motivation to keep the new low numbers there. So yesterday I decided to try on some jeans that got too tight to wear about a year ago. And, wonder of wonders, they fit perfectly! It means all my work is paying off (albeit slowly) and I feel reeeeeeeaaaaalllllly good! Thanks for asking!
I hope you are able to keep up your routine. I guess it's been like a week..... so we should be hearing from you soon, right? How long is your fam there? I think it's great to plan out the first day of exercise so you set a precedent. I will have to do that for US Thanksgiving and of course at Christmas. But I also want to eat smaller portions over the holidays... we'll see how that goes.
